1924 Alaskan Concrete Cottage Plans

The Employee's Cottage was built on Saint Paul's Island, Alaska in 1924, using poured concrete for the exterior walls.

Alaskan Concrete Cottage

The Employee's Cottage is one of three identical houses built in 1924 by the United States Bureau of Fisheries for its employees on Saint Paul Island. Known locally as the Teacher's House, since the island's teacher traditionally resided there. It was built of poured-in-place concrete construction. Wood framing was used for the floors, roof, and interior partitions. The exterior of the cottage was covered in wood sheathing some time in the late twentieth century.

A five-drawing plan set with floor plans, exterior elevations, construction details and a building section is available from the Historic American Buildings Survey through the link below.
