1808 Florida Wood
Frame Cottage
Plans
This early cottage has
details and wood framing that was typical of small coastal homes
throughout the Southeast U.S.
The Julee Cottage
was in decay in 1968 when it was measured and photographed for
the Historic American Buildings Survey. It was the oldest wood
frame building in Pensacola, Florida. The drawings that the HABS
published give you an idea of how the 27'x33' cottage might have
looked in better days.
The four-room
cottage, built before 1808, is an example of platform frame
construction. There are stairs and an outside hatch to a low
storage loft. Louvered window shutters and brick pier footings
are typical of small homes built throughout the coastal areas of
the Southeastern United States.
The four-page drawing plan
set has floor plans, exterior elevations and a building section.
It is available from the HABS through
the link below.

These plans will print on 8 1/2x11 paper on most computer
printers. Ledger and larger size prints can also be produced
from the same file by using a large format printer. If you don't
have one of those, a copy shop should be able to provide you
with prints.
